PROJECTS

NEW MEDIA+COMMUNITY PRACTICE

Group
Instigating Culture - Have you ever witnessed a disco party in the hallways of a Museum at high noon? No? Why? To most it may seems inappropriate to mix a 1970s era dance trend with the sanitary breezeways of a formal institution. But what if we did it anyway? What similarities would we find? What surprises? Upon digging deeper into the seemingly opposite realms, would we find any similarities of order, disorder, routine and performance? The Instigating  Culture assignment calls for an intervention in space by performing a juxtaposition of the social opposite or unlikely to foster a unique, playful or even critical experience of culture and society while exploring the meaning of formal and informal space.

Group
Conscience of Place - A conscience - that little voice leading one away from those actions of harm, shame, or danger. Is conscience learned? If so, can a group develop a learned collective voice of, reason and truth? What does it look like when a group comes together to create a collective conscience fostering new forms of dialogue, sharing and social engagement that may be needed and or missing in the larger social ecology of a place. This project should continue to explore meanings of formal or informal space.

When developing project consider:
1) Context
2) Publics
3) How does engagement interact with context and publics

Mapping Place - Moving Audio Diary of Place and Geography
As we walk about our day what do we encounter, remember, ponder, love, detest? If anything. The art of walking is an area within contemporary art with a rich history of investigation. Mapping Place asks the artist to design an audio walking tour of place explore the inbetween.
